“It is better to aim high and miss, than to aim low and hit.” – Les Brown

There was once a kid named Jack. And Jack was a normal kid. He loved his parents. He loved his brothers & sisters, though he wouldn’t always say it. He sometimes liked school. He loved sports and occasionally playing on his tablet. But one day, Jack had a thought – “What if I aimed higher? What if I tried to be the best I could be?”

And he kept thinking about that. And he kept working towards it. What do you think happened? He got along better with his parents. He & his siblings still fought a little, but he was more patient. He worked harder & got better grades in school. He excelled in sports. He nailed his tests at martial arts.

Jack asked a really good question that we can ask ourselves. What if you were the best brother? The best daughter? The best friend? The best martial artist you could be? What if you were the best student at school? As Adults: What if you were the best employee or boss? The best parent possible? The best spouse possible?

Would it be easy or hard? Hard. But would it be worth it? Yes.

We encourage all our students (& parents!) to aim high this year. When you aim high, you may not hit your target. But you’ll get pretty high. If I only ever aim low, I’m going to hit it every time – it’s easy. But we aren’t here to choose the easy path, are we? No – we are here to Do Hard Things. So, as we go into a brand new year, let’s Aim High!
